The 5th Annual 2012 Adoptee Rights Protest Details

Our Adoptee Rights sign making party will be held on Sunday, August 5th 2012.

We will have hotel reservation details, along with a discount code in a few days, both here and on our Facebook page.

Why Chicago? Why the NCSL?

The National Conference of State Legislatures is the largest grouping of state legislators at any one given time. It's the national organization of STATE LAWMAKERS, the people who DECIDE whether you may access your original birth certificate… OR NOT.

The Exhibitors Booth in the NCSL convention center allows us to talk about adoption laws to legislators from every state. The NCSL Legislative Summit is the largest and most important meeting of the year for legislators and legislative staff and is highly attended. It is here where we enlighten lawmakers about achieving equal rights for adoptees. After the Demonstration, The ARC spends the following three days, August 7th, 8th and 9th, in the Exhibition Hall at McCormick Place in Chicago working directly with legislators and staff so they may become aware and educated about the need for Adoptee Rights legislation in their home states.

Add Your Voice to the Adoptee Rights Demonstration!

We hope supporters representing every state will join us in Chicago to demonstrate their commitment to adoptee rights and meet their state delegation.

  1. Could you please post the start and finish times for the protest? We live in the Chicago area and would love to attend with our two adopted children! But they are still toddlers, so we would need to plan it so that they aren't there for too long and they still get at least a short nap otherwise we will experience Toddler Meltdowns. Thank you!

  2. We will post the time closer to the date of the demonstration. Usually, our demonstration begins around 10 am and lasts about 1 1/2 hours, depending on city regulations, weather, etc. Thanks!

  6. The convention center dates will be the 7th, 8th and 9th.
The hotel details ARE coming, but we are really trying hard to find the most affordable rates and the best location. Chicago is expensive, so it's a bit of a challenge this year. We're doing the best we can!

  9. Jeannie, the best way is to contact your state legislator (s) and ask them. Then, let them know to stop by The Adoptee Rights Coalition's Booth and say hello and grab some swag! We have a letter writing campaign in the weeks before the annual meeting to remind them about our cause and to tell them to stop and say "Hello".
